FOR WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE WOOD FOR TREES
Session Options at Wood for Trees Counselling
Talk. Create. Connect. Heal.
At Wood for Trees, we offer two distinct yet complementary ways to support your mental health and wellbeing — both grounded in evidence-based practice, creativity, and connection.
-
1:1 Counselling Sessions
Traditional talk-based therapy in a safe, confidential space. These sessions are tailored to your unique needs and draw on Person-Centred Therapy, CBT, and Solution-Focused approaches to help you explore challenges and move forward with clarity and confidence. -
Creative Therapy Sessions
-
Carve Your Path – A therapeutic spoon carving session that combines green woodcraft with mindful reflection. Ideal for those who find healing in hands-on, calming activities.
-
Beat Repeat – A therapeutic drumming experience that uses rhythm and movement to reduce stress, build emotional resilience, and strengthen connection.
-
Both Carve Your Path and Beat Repeat can be delivered as individual or group sessions, depending on your preferences, and can also be a mindful one-off experience or an on going well being process once a week.
All sessions run for approximately one hour.
Costs may vary, so please get in touch to discuss the best option for you.
Whether you're looking to talk, create, or reconnect, Wood for Trees offers supportive, meaningful ways to help you find your path forward.

Before your first session, you’ll receive a secure Zoom link and clear instructions to get started. All conversations are fully confidential, and you can attend from any private space with a stable internet connection.
Online sessions offer:
-
A safe, non-judgmental space to talk
-
Flexibility and comfort
-
Reduced pressure compared to in-person counselling
Simple. Supportive. On your terms.

Carve Your Path
Mindful Making for Mental Wellbeing
These one-on-one sessions blend green woodcraft with person-centred counselling, offering a unique and grounding approach to emotional wellbeing. Using raw materials and hand tools, you’ll learn to carve a wooden spoon from start to finish — a mindful, hands-on process that fosters focus, reflection, and calm.
Green woodcraft has played a powerful role in my own life, helping me work through challenging times with clarity and purpose. These sessions are designed to offer the same: a quiet, supportive space where you can reconnect with yourself through the rhythm of making.
Ideal for men who may find traditional talk therapy confronting, this approach encourages open conversation, emotional regulation, and a strong sense of creative achievement.
Outcomes include:
-
Reduced stress and emotional overwhelm
-
Improved mindfulness and focus
-
Boosted self-esteem through meaningful creation
-
A safe space for therapeutic reflection
-
Practical carving skills and a completed spoon to take home
Whether you're navigating life changes or simply seeking a new way to connect with yourself, therapeutic spoon carving offers a grounded, restorative experience.

Beat Repeat
Meet. Speak. Beat. Repeat.
Beat Repeat is a therapeutic drumming program designed to support men's mental health and emotional wellbeing through rhythm, connection, and expression. Combining the power of group drumming with guided conversation and reflective practice, Beat Repeat creates a safe space for men to release stress, connect with others, and explore what’s going on beneath the surface — all without pressure to “talk it out” in traditional ways.
While one-on-one sessions are available, Beat Repeat is best experienced in a group, where shared rhythm fosters community, belonging, and emotional safety. No musical skills are needed — just a willingness to show up and have a go.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just need a healthy outlet, Beat Repeat helps you reset through movement, sound, and supportive connection.
Meet. Speak. Beat. Repeat. — because sometimes rhythm says what words can’t.

Dads Dads Dads
Central Coast NSW
Along with being a counsellor and men’s mental health advocate, craft nerd and drummer, I’m also a mate and a husband, but most importantly, I’m a middle-aged dad to two young daughters. Becoming a dad, both times, was absolutely wild. Beautiful, yes, but also mental, messy, chaotic, and at times completely overwhelming. One thing I’ve learned through this experience is
Dad’s struggle too; we just tend to do it quietly while pretending everything’s fine.

Dads Dads Dads is a super casual hangout for dads: new dads, old dads, stepdads, co-parent dads, confused dads, tired dads, “what-day-is-it?” dads, girls dads, boy dads and basically any dads who have ever stepped on a Lego, or a pointy hair clip at 4 am going for a pee.
There’s no pressure, no judgement, no awkward therapy circle vibes. Just a bunch of dads hanging out, talking real life, having a laugh at our own disasters, and hopefully making a few solid connections along the way.
